The Legian Bali
Soori Bali
Tanah Gajah by Hadiprana

The Legian, which was where the shoot took place in, is located at Seminyak in Bali; an area we consider to be one of the chicest part of the island. Dainty boutiques, cafes and plenty of nightlife fill this area and is a place we feel appeal to the modern bride.

The tea ceremony is a Chinese tradition and the area used for this set up sits just right outside one of the suites of The Legian. We brought out the richness of this custom with the use of porcelain vases and red flowers. The ceremony was set up against the spectacular view of the ocean. Consistent with the concept, vibrant flowers and acrylic elements were used, and coloured cushions were also brought in to act as accent pieces adding on for a more refreshing look.

The inspiration for the styled shoot stemmed from Soori’s very own story (and mainly its architecture). This styled shoot was conceptualized with the hope of creating a look that not only fits in but also complements with the existing design and features that are unique to Soori Bali.

The colour scheme remains largely neutral with ivory as the main focus but accentuated with shades of blue for a calming effect. Overall, an airy look was maintained for the shoot to bring about the peace and tranquility that Soori Bali is known for. For the dining shoot in the evening, a rather whimsical touch is added to bring about a more magical look.

We’ve seen many weddings in Bali but none that closely resemble the true authentic Balinese experience. Hence when we found out about Tanah Gajah by Hadiprana, we were thrilled to see how its buildings and architecture is maintained with much respect for the indigenous culture of Bali.

The fact that the venue is situated at Ubud, the quieter and “zen” part of Bali, further adds to the need for us to do a shoot that brings out the elements that make a wedding Balinese. With that, we conceptualized a shoot which we hope brings across the idea of a quiet celebration of love away from the hustle and bustle of touristy Bali.

We let nature take centre stage in this shoot because there is always a form of effortless grace to the outcome of a shoot when we let mother nature lend us her beauty. For the ceremony, we decided to let the grandeur of the rice paddies be the focus. An intimate ceremony was set up among the greenery that surrounds us from all corners. For the dining space, we went with a picnic set up for a more down to earth dining experience.
